Acropora Question

Hey all i have an 8gallon biocube that i simply love...i recently went barebottom and love it!!!well i have a bunch of ricordias(5 or 6) that have all are in the process of splitting...i simply love the look of LPS particularly Acropora..i have found an excellent dealer of Acropora and was wondering if i could purchase a frag...im askin y'all cause you people are prolly the smartest reef keepers i know. well these aree my water parameters if it helps to aid your awnsering;
SG; 1.025
pH; 8.2
'Trite; 0 ppm
'Trate; 10 ppm
Ammonia; 0 ppm
Calcium; 450 ppm

i am using iodide but i cant find a darn tester for it so to be on the safe side i only add two drops a day because one tablespoon can dose 50 gallons.

i just want some info cause i love those corals, i am willing to go to the store and purchase strontium and trace elements if neccesary.

thanks!!!and sorry for the long post

Acros are SPS, not LPS

What lights do you have, how steady is your temp, what is you mag and alk levels and how long has the tank been up and running. personally I wouldn't add any SPS until your tank balances back out from going BB

And no, don't add iodide, you can OD the stuff very easily and no you don't need anything other than a balanced Ca and alk routine

Well understanding ca, alk and mag are probably the step after obtaining stability and before getting sps. There are tons of different types of acros, some easier than others, but probably not well suited for a biocube with stock light. 75 is a little low for sps, probably want to shoot for 78-81.

Buy a new heater ;(

Go to nanotunners.com they have t5 and halide retro hood for the biocubes but I don't kno wabout a 8g. maintaning the stability for SPS will be very hard in a 8g tank. and if you add halide you will have trouble keeping the temp down.

with the stock lighting you may be able to keep low light SPS like montipora but those will very quickly outgorw a 8g tank.
