Acan questions

Total newbie here so sorry if this stuff has been asked before but I was wondering what sort of growth rate is "average" for acans. I realize that it will vary based on type, feeding, tank, etc but I'd love to get some sort of vague idea.

Also, for those of you who feed - what do you feed, how often, etc?

Last question (for now at least) - what lighting and flow have you found to work for your acans?

Thanks!

Like all corals it depends on the environment and feeding habits.
The bigger the coral the faster you will see growth. The extend out in a circle so if you start with a single polyp it may be 6+ months before you see a new ring of heads. but if you starts with a small colony 12-15 heads you may see it double in a year and every year. feeding does help them grow.

If your looking at frags 1-4 heads be in it for the long haul it will be a few years before you have a show piece. if your looking at 10-20 head mini colonies it may double every year and be large in no time.

If it doubles every year and you start with 1 head in 3 years you will have 6 heads
If you start with 10 heads in three years it will be 80 heads

I'm not saying they double every year there are just too many variables but on mine a see a few new heads every few months.
