I think your daytime lights should only be on for 8-10 hrs a day. You can get a cheap timer at wal-mart or other big box store. I've read that if you cut daytime lighting back just 30 min, that would really help control algae. Also keep your tank away from any windows where real sunlight could reach your tank (2 reasons-excess heat and excess algae growth)

your RO should be removing the PO4, if it's not you need to figure out what's up with that. It may require you to get some phosphate absorbent and run that after the DI stage on your RODI...

yea . I checked my ro water system and my po4 was 2. So I'm getting a new system. and hopefully it will keep my po4 down and algae also. I just received my sps. Will try to post some pics soon. Thanks Tony.

I'm afraid your new SPS will be smothered by algae or killed from high phosphates. I would do large water changes with clean water (perhaps RO water from a store until you get a new system).

Read what you type before you post. I can barely read what your sayin. Phils granulosa is a deep water acro and doesnt require as much light as say the red planet. You can tell deep water acro from shallow by the polyps being so spread out and the smooth texture of the branches. The monti cap would probly need more light. Ask tony though he is the monti expert.

Thats not true. Ive been using TAP water for about 2 years and I am still using TAP water and all my SPS, LPS and softies are thriving. I have diff. montiporas, diff. acroporas, and a couple LPS and they are all doing fine. Maybe the TAP water in my area is very good i printed out an annual test for my county and all parameters are good.I do a 25% water change every 2 weeks. I will get an RO/DI system soon but what im trying to say is dont discourage the new guy saying his corals will die cuz of the phosphates. I have some red slime at the bottom of my tank meaning i have some phosphates and im sure my TAP isnt cleaner then his RO water.

I woudn't say expert... far from an expert...really.

I would say, seasoned, have had my share of ups and downs with Montis... it's my favorite it Genus.
