temp for sps
going to start sps what is an ideal temp? how much can it swing up or down to in a day? Would 10k bulbs for my mh be the best spectrum with the atinic compac's? Time's for lighting? 180G 3 250w hqi 4 96w compact and I have moon lights. I am building a new sump refug combo right now with external dolphin pump , the mag drives put off to much heat

I keep mine between 80 and 83, no heater, no chiller... Personally I like 14K Phoenix bulbs (if you have DE fixtures, but I have heard they release a SE version now as well)

Anywhere from 76 to 84 would be fine, and a temp swing of up to 4 degrees per day isnt much to worry about as long as it's typical. If you don't ever have a swing, and then allow it to swing 4 degrees one time, you may see a problem.

i kept sps (montis and birdsnest only) in a seahorse tank with a chiller that kept the tank between 73 and 74*. it was more of an experiment, but the sps seemed to do just fine. on the other side of the equation, i've had it do just fine with spikes up to 84.5*.

My tank has fluctuated from 76-81 in a single day, many times with no problems.

I try not to let my tank get warmer than 82 degrees. Optimal to me is between 80 - 81 with no more than 1 degree fluctuation throughout the day.

I stay at 78-80 with fans and a chiller, but I think as long as you don't have more than 2-4 degrees fluctuation, you should be fine.
