Sps Feeding Discussion! & what to use
Ok I know this question has been asked a dozen times but for some of the new comers & myself What do you feed your reef/sps besides fish poo.....There are a bunch of tanks that feed amino acids & coralvite ect. but won't this release phosphates back into the water column? what is the best additive to get the best growth keeping in mind that your water levels are were they should be cal 450 alk 8dkh mag 1400!

I'm pretty new to sps but I feed reef snow once a week, says it won't affect Phosphates but when I feed it's at night and the polyps get huge when I do. I'm curios as well what other people feed...if anything.

I have found that any time I put any "food" in my tank my SPS loose their color a bit.
I have about 70 different SPS and a dozen LPS and I have fed the LPS Misys w/ Selcom (aminos) and a week later the tank gets "dusty" and SPS loose color.
Now I take unhealthy LPS out to feed.
My Params:
SG 1.025/26
PH: 7.8/8.1
Ca 420
Alk:8.4
Mg: 1450
I get awesome growth and color. I do not feed anything anymore light is the only thing they feed on.
What I have found is anything that makes your skimmer go flat is not good for SPS.

I feed (and recommend) New Life Spectrum Thera+A anti parasitic. 1mm pellets.
I use to get the occasional stress related ick in my tangs (4 of them). Since going to that food 2 years ago I have not seen it since. I have also suggested it to other and they see the same results.

I dose it daily... Just make sure it is 100% vit c without any other crud in it. You'll probably see the difference in zoa and montis first within the first week or two of dosing. I'll go a couple months doing it and then skip and month or so. I'm not sure skipping does anything, but there are quite a few threads on RC about it.

The only thing I dont like about the Formula two is the gel binder. I switched to another food and its got small amounts of garlic in it. You talk about your fish going insane. PHEW, they love every bit of it. Its got a bunch of different sized pieces. Ill get you a name in the AM.
