well the 1800petmeds doesnt work it asks for a vets ok. but i got 3 pills off of a local
guy here for a few frags of zoas. thinking more of doing the dose in the tank to make sure i get all of the redbugs, then qt all new frags after that. anyone used the interceptor with an anemone? i have an rbta that i would hate to lose! ill do my best to catch my cb and cleaner shrimps before i go ahead with it.

I setup a qt tank to dose so I wouldn't risk crashing my tank from all the dead pods and crustys. I'm not sure how anemones fair but it's my understanding that the interceptor is only lethal to crustys.

well i dropped a half pill in my tank at about 11pm last night. before doing so i closed the air valve on my skimmer and removed the carbon from my reactor. just got home today and there are no bugs anywhere!! corals however all look good seems like im already getting better polyp extension. put some fresh carbon in the reactor and cranked up the skimmer and i have 25gallons of sw mixing for a wc tonight. i think i got em

something that i did not see mentioned is the question that i have.

i am going to be treating this week and need to know if you guys fire the skimmer back up in the weeks between treatments ?? 2-3 weeks seems like a long time to leave a skimmer off on a SPS tank to me.

sorry i have not been around alot, but i have gotten VERY busy lately. i will try to be more active here when i get some free time.

I just left my skimmer off for the few hours that I treated the tank. I actually left it pump running, but I opened the gate valve up all the way so that it didnt build a bubble column.

just thought it would be nice to have a PICTURE of the red bugs that this thread is about. i also want to thank everyone that has posted here and dustin for the excellent work. as of now i have finished treatment number 1 and am seeing NO red bugs, but the other treatments are going to make sure they are all gone. from now on i am dipping EVERY coral and frag in Interceptor for 12 hours before they go into my system. hopefully that will keep me from having to dose my tank again. anyway, here is the pic of the featured pests ... it was the best i could get with my $200 point and shoot camera ...

notice the tiny tan/red spots on the base.

same coral after first treatment ...

i tried doing the treatment a little differently. i did it after lights out. i could not find anything anywhere about anyone trying this. it seems to have not effected my hermits or starfish (2) very much at all. i dont know if it was the lights being out or not, but everything seems to have made it through a somewhat high dose (3/4 of a pill in a 225g system). i will keep posting as the treatments are needed.

Nice Bobby. Looks like its starting to poke its polyps out too.

Great pics with a point and shoot for sure. Good enough to see the bugs really arent red........yellow ..........with a red spot

Is it possible that something as easy as raising the salinity levels will kill these bugs?? I only have hardy soft corals, and I can't see anymore bugs. I'll re-post if a re-infestation occurs.

cheers.
