As far as I know, it's still the best and easiest way to treat red bugs. I haven't seen anything else new for quite some time now. Interceptor works so well, is so easy to use, and safe that people aren't trying real hard to find other treatments. I do have to say that I read about someone using another heartworm medication over in Europe that worked well, but I don't remember the name.

Yep, I did it just a few months back. Check out my build thread for some of the specifics, but I followed this plan almost to the letter. Here's a shot of the most affected coral from today and from about 4 months ago.

I just treated my tank with Interceptor last night for something known as "black bugs". This morning I did not see any of the parasites, but my emerald crab is dead along with a hermit. I did an aggressive treatment though at twice the normal concentration and will continue the treatment for 24 hours. Corals, clam, fish, and snails all are looking good.

Just a followup on the black bugs posting. It seems that a single treatment of Interceptor wiped out the black bugs. I will post again if they return.

For those of you that dip before putting in your tank I have a couple of questions. 1st, I thought the following two items were used fo:
Fluke tabs or TMPCC for AEFW.
Interceptor was for red bugs.
2nd - what is your process and dosage?

I used interceptor for my redbugs and worked as documented. I used a hospital tank though to spare my shelled pets. remember though, you have to do a followup treatment to get the ones that haven't hatched yet. I followed up 5 days later. I think the life cycle is 5 days if I remember correctly though.

red bugs (tegastes acroporanus) are live bearers. they dont hatch. the follow up treatments are just to be sure.

ive recently switched from tmpcc to TLF coral revive. it is at LEAST as effective, if notr more and much less harsh on the corals
My dipping process takes about 1.5 hours. the first hour is a 20-50 x dose of interceptor and tank water and a small poerhead in a 5 gallon bucket. the interceptor is mixed up with a cup or two of near boiling ro/di water before being mixed in the tank water. this makes it much mroe soluble and it goes to work in ten minutes unstead of a couple of hours.
then coral revive according to directions. when i used tmpcc it was the same(according to directions). the last 15 minutes is a close visual inspection of the water I have treated in and the corals themselves with a bright light and a magnifying glass. Sometimes I use my camera as well as I can blow up pics and see far more than my eyes with a magnifying glass can. this last step is the most important imo. killing the worms does you no good if you leave any eggs
Anything remotely questionable or unhealthy is cut off and discarded. If I find any worms I toss the coral. I have found aefw's twice in the last 6 weeks.

I just finished treating my tank. I have several clams and there seems to have been no problems for them. They opened the same throughout the treatment and still show no affects from it after completing the treatments.

My clam did well too even though I treated my tank with a massive dose of interceptor.

Try your vet first. My vet sold me a single pill for 8 bucks after I explained what it was for. These aren't exactly narcotics we are dealing with here.
