Potassium deficiency?

I've been scanning the sps forum over at RC and came across some mentions of potasium deficiency causing pale colors, poor growth, and other problems. Kinda seems like some problems that I've had with my sps. Anyone ever heard of potassium deficiency? Any ideas on what i can use to bring the potassium level up? Think I can use potassium chloride or something similar from the drugstore?

normally Potassium deficiency, you hear about it more in plants. It can cause all sorts of problems, yellowing leaves, stunted growth, poor coloration, and the list goes on. Potassium is also the chemical that flowering shrubs and trees use the most of next to nitrogen. Not to mention, it is the prime element they use for healthy root development. I can see how it may relate to coral a bit, as it does in humans.

Also.. most iodine solutions are actually Potassium Iodide... so, i think that the chemical may be present in makeup water... try more frequent waterchanges Hoang... smaller, but more frequent.

Also, aren't those the same symptoms of most people who are having trouble with their SPS? LOL

Hoang, can you point to some of the threads your refering to? I'm intrigued. I've also heard of folks looking for potassium permanganate... now I guess I know why!

Maybe you could add a banana to your blender when you make your fish food.

This is interesting, please let us know what you find out.

Oh yeah, what are you doing posting out here? Didn't you just become a new dad today!?
