Please Help, SPS compatible fish.

Ok, I am trying to increace the bio-load (fish poo) in my 50 gallon (4 foot) Bomber Bottom SPS tank. So far I bought one fish that eats SPS, and one that got in a huge fight with my 6-line (now removed) and each fish buying experiance has resulted in me having to rip my reef apart breaking/killing corals in the process. I NEED HELP!!

Here is what I have now,
1 yellow tang
1 Chrub Angel
1 3/4 inch tank raised Springiri(sp?) dottyback
1 Green Clown Golby
1 Christmas Wrasse
1 False Perc

This tank is skimmed by a MRC MR-2 beckett skimmer running wet, driven by a Genx PCX 55 pump at 1000 GPH This skimmer litterly skimms the poo right out of the fish so to get the deep color I want I need a higher fish load.

I also have a 75X in-tank turnover.

What I need, a fish that will work with my other fish and one cleaner shrimp, handle the flow, not require sand to sleep in or anything, and not eat SPS. Cool looking would be nice but really comes second to the above rules.
Suggest your fav fish!

Thanks for your help,
Whiskey

Damsels? I have heard so many bad things about damsels I don't know where to start. My friend just had to literly fish a devil damsel (one of the coolest looking fish IMHO) out of his tank last week because it started beeting up his lubbix fairy wrasse.

Are chromis Damsels any better?

Thanks,
Whiskey

The Chromis are the less aggressive damsel. Have you looked into Cardinal fish? Royal Gramma?

I don't know what to say, I think You have a pretty good bio load in your tank already. If You have a great tank and have SPS's I would keep it the way it is ,But then in my reefs I like only a few fish, they all need to have a job. I have 2 in my 90 now that are on welfare. They do nothing to help. I have a yellow eye tank, blie ****sel and tomato clown. the last two I can do without.

You could get rid of the tang(he needs a bigger tank) and get more fish then.

That would be really cool, but unfortanatally I am not around enough during the day to feed them as much as they need.

Great idea though,
Whiskey

I used to be a big advicate of fishless/low fish tanks, but I have found since removing the sand and consentrating so much on deatris removal the corals lightened up due to lack of nutreants. Now I have a even better skimmer and the problem is worse. Feeding TONS of food, with the skimmer off, and I mean TONS! really helped, my corals color got deeper and the growth rate increaced, but this is only one feeding once a day, if I had fish pooing throughout the day I think it would be even better.

I guess there is a reason that wild reefs with sholes of fish living in and around them have been proven to grow faster than ones that don't.

Before this tank only had the YT, 6-line and later the clown, but now I am ramping up my fish load for this reason. If you are able to export the poo, and not have it banging around your system then you don't need to be as worried about fish load I guess.

Thanks for your input,
Whiskey

Lawnmower blennies are really cool, but I don't have any algae for it.

Thanks for the suggestion,
Whiskey

You are right, I do need a bigger tank for him, but he was literly a rescue from a nighbor's toilet (I accually reached in the toilet and pulled him out). I nursed him back to health in a 10G QT, and he went in my 29, which was quickly upgraded to the 50 I have now, this happened some years ago.

The reason I went with 250W MH, and the huge skimmer was because I plan to upgrade to a 120 toward the end of this year. I do feel bad about having him in this small tank, but justified it by thinking that I literly saved his life.

Just the backstory so you don't think I am totaly evil,
Whiskey

Could you just turn down the skimmer a touch?
