Montipora Capicornus? Do They Grow?
Ok, so I like these big huge flat pieces of green stuff, aka the Monti? They add nice color, and a different texture to the tank. The question is, do they grow? I dont want them too big, one because theyd tank up too much tank, two because theyre like frickin $90. Ive seen smaller pieces at my LFS, but theyre almost TOO small, but theyre about 1/4 of the price. Do these guys grow? BTW, I have (2) 96w 50/50 Compacts.

Yes they grow quite well given the right conditions. Frags should be priced in the 10-20 dollar range depending on colors and size. Local reefers might even give you some small frags that will grow in no time.
They grow under PC just fine, and a small frag will turn into a nice piece in time.

If you keep Calcium and alkalinity levels up they should grow; however, they will probably lose some color.

one of the fastest growers you can buy in no time you will need to frag.

Do they grow....lol....
Oh ya my friend they grow! Trust me and many reefers around the country enjoying their fast growth!
I'm a big fan of them...they come in all colors...heck I have 8 different kinds.colors of the monti-caps...then you got encrusting monti's, like the danau's (superman, rainbow, etc.)...many encrusting styles are very expensive but AWSOME! Then for the third and final common montipora classes you have the digitatas, they grow in branching finger form instead of plates...
I am a acro man, but really like the monti's as well!

How do you frag a monti cap? Is it really as simple as just cutting it with a pair or scissors?

Welcome to TRT- tygger!!
they are usually much easier to frag than that. mine seem to jump out and hit my arm and a large piece of it will fall off.
they are extremely easy to frag, either on purpose or not. just superglue them to another piece of LR and call it good.

Just snap them with your finger,I have found they do better if you frag them but dont glue them for a few days gives them a little less stress that way.
