Monti Plate


I am curious as to the care and needs of this animal .. can someone give me advice before I buy ...

If you already have SPS then it should fit right in. the one thing i would note is that you need to keep some flow on the coral to blow debris off of it.

High flow as stated. Also need high light, very stable and clean (in terms of nitrogenous wastes) water.

One of the easier SPS to keep good flow medium light it will do fine,keep calcium up. for good growth

Just think about where you find the morph you desire, as current will not only affect the amount of sediment that ends up on the more horizontal sections (sedimentation = loss of light and gas exchange = death of coral tissue under the sediment), but will affect the actual morphology of the specimen in question. The only way to have a beauty is to assure at least moderate light, moderate current , high calcium and alkalinity, stable salinity, and adequate proportionality of the conservative elements of SW associated with clean (low in dissolved organic nutrients) oligotrpic water resulting from regular water changes.


Casey has a few nice specimens, maybe he will post a few pix of the purple beauties he has...

You run 10ks right? You cant hold this color with those I run 500 watts of 20k and 440 of actinic 03s to hold this color.
