Yes they are on the same rock. But I can take that rock out easily. But I would rather not if I didn't have to. I was looking at that piece from the top today and it looks so cool. I will try to get a top down shot, but I have never tried that. And my light bar is pretty close to the water. Any tips? I could remove the lights and use the flash but the colors would be way off.
I tried Aptasia X on the shrooms before and that didn't work. Does anybody know anything like that that will?

Well this was my first ever attempt at top down pics. They are OK, but the glare of the MH is in the pic. I need a small acrylic box or something I think to get good ones.
This 1 I like because it has the clownfish in it.
Here is 1 from the side just for the heck of it.

Just take the mushrooms off the rock and cut them up so you can have even more mushrooms and then put them wherever you want

Oh I don't want any more mushrooms, lol. I have about 100 to many as is. I have already given them away to every one I know, and I still have to many. They just keep splitting. I think I am going to take out the rock this weekend and try to dremel them off.

I don't think that is Montipora. My guess would be Anacropora. I had a large colony many years ago. I was very brittle and the tips were much softer than digitata. It was one of the fastest growers I've ever had.
BTW this is my first post here. I hope i am not becoming ID pirate already.

Yes, it is very brittle and a fast grower. But I do think its a Monti. The polyps look more like Monti polyps, and the guy at the LFS ( who is a marine biologist) and not just your average LFS kid working after high school ,ID'd it as a Monti. I don't think its digtata though. I think the ID from 1 of the first post's is correct. But I could be wrong.
But I think its a M. Hirisuta. It just looks more like a Monti looking at the polyp's.

Fairly confident that's an Elkhorn (Acropora palmata). They grow in that fashion and have polyp structure alot like Monti's.

Judging by this statement I doubt its Elkhorn. Either that or its a very rare piece.
In 2004, the Center for Biological Diversity requested the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) place elkhorn coral on the endangered species list. In 2005, NMFS decided that elkhorn coral qualified as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. On May 4, 2006 Elkhorn coral and Staghorn coral (A. cervicornis) were officially placed on the Endangered Species List.

I am aware of the endangered listing, but they do pop up time to time from corals that were collected prior to the blacklisting. I have had one, and thanks to a particular Trochus snail it got knocked off of my rockwork and then pulled under the rocks by a particular jawfish. I would have had to tear the tank apart to get it out.. so needless to say, I lost it.
