monti cap pests?

Just got in two monti's off ebay, my little QT has no lights at this time. I don't want to put anything bad into my tank, but don't want to put them in a qt with no light either. It is a 3 gal eclipse and the ballast crapped out. would cost more to order the pieces than to replace it. Back to my question, what can i do to treat the monti cap for any pests. I don't imagine red bugs bother it, and thats all i have for treatments, the interceptor stuff.

Kelli is right,... Monti eating nudies are the monti nightmare.

TMPCC dip will kill the nudies,... but a warning it WON'T kill the eggs. So what you really need to do is dip, then put in QT, in 5 days Dip, back into QT, then 5 days later Dip, then into the display. Close observation this whole time is a must.

The cure for monti eating nudies is basically to throw out your monties

Also, Monties take badly to the TMPCC dip in most cases, so eazy on them, go by reccomended doeses and times.

These nudies are white, and very, very, very small, they tend to congrigate at the bottom of the coral at first, eating all the tissue off the bottom, they lay their eggs in dead area near tissue. Once they kill all the tissue on the bottom they move to the top, shaded areas first. There not out much during the day though.

Caps seem to be their fav, brown and brown with purple rim especially, but they will eat whatever is available with one possible exception. (Montipora spongnosis or however you spell that) I've heard a few reports of them dieing before eating that one.

HTH,
Whiskey

Oh

What I'm getting at here is that it is definitally worth your while to fix your Q tank and get some TMPCC.
