lighting for superman monti?

Just got a small frag of the superman, and was wondering under what lighting intensity have people had the best success? Super high intensity, high intensity, moderate intensity?

Hey Hoang, I can save you a lot of trouble and grief. Your lights are no where near strong enough to attempt to raise and propagate that coral effectively. You need to give it to Tony so he can bring it to me at the meeting on the 23rd and I will take very good care of it.

Sorry, but I just couldn't control myself. Unfortuantely I cannot do much more for you tan to give you a free ride to the top.

Thanks wolf and chris. I'll probably start moving the frag to the upper part of the tank. We'll see how fast it grows. If it grows well enough, you are welcome to a frag of it - probably will be next year though before I get to you (there are a few other people who will see frags first).

I keep mine right under a 400W 20K & the colors are outstanding. It seems the higher it is the more color it gets.

I've got mine just a few inches under my T5 lights, and I think it could would do better under more intense lighting.

I have mine sitting all the way at the bottom of the tank under 250W XM10K a good 21" underwater from the light,.. my color and growth is great. I've found that when I move it higher it gets a touch lighter.

Well, I may not be a good example to follow. The color is pretty good, but growth has been pretty slow. I bought the piece a long time ago, and I think I'm mostly disappointed because I keep moving it around. First from one tank to another, then to new lighting, then to a new place in the tank, then to another new place. So I think now, if I leave it alone, it should be ok. But, maybe Eric can chime in (Scruffy Rubicon); I sent him half of mine and his piece is looking awesome now (it's under 250W MH though, so that may also be a part of it).

I have it under 250w MH. It is close to 2' under the bulb but it is directly under it. Good flow but not getting blasted directly either. Odd thing is that I have a piece of Sunset Monti almost right next to it that isn't doing near as well.

That is crazy about the Sunset. My Sunset has probably grown 3 times as much as my Superman, but I keep my Sunset low in the tank.

I may need to move mine a bit. Part of it gets more light than the rest. The part in lower light is doing much better.

Well, the concensus seems to be to place the superman in moderate to low lighting so that's where I'll start it off. Wish me luck!
