what happens when the polyps are closed? Upon initial look, I wouldnt even be confident naming it an SPS, and the polyps don't really represent those that I'd expect on a monti.

If I had to take a wild wild guess based on that photo, this would be it.

I don't think that is a Monti at all. I tend to agree with Jadinops guess on this one and call it a Goniopora

You may have better luck with this one over the green one that you had. For whatever reason, the red Goniopora with the short polyps seem to fare better than other goni's IME. It's a filter feeder so you may have to put in a little effort to keep it fed.

It's a shame that whatever store sold you this did not know the difference between a monti and a goni. To make it even worse, they used some fancy made up name to make it seem even more desireable.

Well I called the store owner and he took it back and gave me my full refund. I explained that it was indeed a goniopora he said it was sold to him that way and maybe the packing person got the wrong coral not knowing. He doesn't know much about SPS as he just carries mainly LPS and he started ordering some SPS because I asked about them So I believe it was a honest mistake But thanks everyone for helping me out I traded it for a beautiful Powder Blue tang to go with my Naso and they are best buds swimming together
