Nope, no phosphate media on my tank. Just skimmer and carbon that I change out once a month or so (I'm not very diligent about it), with water changes/siphoning once every 2-3 weeks.

thanks guys I a getting more motivated now.
its just that my monti caps started looking so colorful now they are bland. I guess I need to explore other options like flow and phosphate.

Looks very pretty! I guess I'm more subjective to the ocean-like shimmer of MH. I would def go T-5 but all the prices for the kits I would need (which I heard were 6 bulbs or higher) were priced $400 before the bulbs

Thank you, here is a 6 bulb fixture that includes the bulbs, has individual reflectors and has built in fans for $380 no tax

Sounds good, My fixture was $590 lol, I saw a cheap current usa 2x54 white and 2x54 actinic fixture at my LFS and he said that to match what I had (2x250) it'd require atleast 6 bulbs

I personally like retro kits. They are cheaper and easy to install and you can have different legths of bulbs. I have 6 but could add 1 or 2 more. all 6 with lights and brand new bulbs was about $320 bucks after shipping. you just need to shop around like anything else.

joker, with 2 400 watt pendants you will cook your tank, really the ideal size for a 75 gal would be 2 250 watt (really 2 150 watt MH would be just fine), and that will grow basically anything you want...but in the mean time i am using 4x54 (216 watts )T5HO on mine and am growing everything (SPS, acro, milli, pocci, monti.clams..etc) just fine...
