full monti (encrusted)

Hi Reefers,

I Just got a greenish / brownish encrusted Monti. I placed it up high with good flow. I have a 96w pc in a 10g. will I eventually see polyps on it or are they too small to see?

ANY good tips out there for feeding and general care?

Thanks.

You will see pylops if they come out. Some specs on your system would be a big help. Sump size, skimmer, fish load, fuge?, test results, makeup water, flow, etc,... Your coral eat's light and fish poo.

Thanks,
Whiskey

Cool looking Monti. It looks like you have some caleurpa on the left that is about to take it over - might want to trim that back some and pick off that bubble algae as well.

That's a cool looking urchin. If you don't have a ton of bubble algae, I would just recommend removing it by hand. Most of the time they pop right off with a little pressure. I usually take the piece out during a water change, pop off the bubbles, and then rinse off the rock with the old tank water (to remove any released spores) and then replace in the tank. You may have to do this a few times, but I think it's worth it. Much easier to deal with it early on than to wait until the bubbles overgrow stuff. JMHO
