Fragging the Super-Sized Monti Cap
Well the time has come to frag my LARGE Monti Cap back. I have given a ton of it away over the last few years and it has still outgrown my 125g. It shadows close to 20% of the tank now.
Here is a pic of how it started out:
A few pics from along the way:
I'll get a new pic or two out here before the fragging begins. Just a guess but I would say the monti is now 16" across any 8" tall. There are al least layers of cups.

That would be one idea. The monti has gotten so big that the lower leaves are dying off due to lack of light and you can no longer see the top unless you look over the top of the tank. I could move it lower but I would have to move a ton of other coral.
I know that montis grow VERY WELL in my tank so It will grow back in no time flat. Just need to see if any of the LFSs need any right now.

We both wish we could do that but a new house seems to be the priority right now.

Wonderful showpiece, I just wish you could get that view from the side. I've been having to get rid of some of my corals recently too, mostly to make room for others though.

It really is one of my favorite pieces. Just got too big I am keeping enough to re-grow it.
Looks like the one LFS that is interested, the owner is in Fiji so I have to wait until at least Tuesday.

I'm really gonna miss it. The tank will look so bare after it is gone. I am keeping a few frags myself.
I should add that this coral has supplemented my reef addiction time and time again.

I got a piece of it, you don't have too live close. I've had pretty good success shipping corals over the last 2 weeks.

With the money I spent at a reef club meeting today, I am not sure that I could afford the shipping for the frag.
