Fragging montipora

I'm new here, the name is Daniel. I had a quick question, how would I go about fragging a plate forming montipora. I didn't know exactly how to go about it if you just break off a piece of that kit kat bar or is there a more careful way of doing it. Thanks!

snap it off under water, glue to plug, (a iodine dip can be done), and then trade or monti will slowly take over

I have folks that come by to visit that often go home with a bag of caps or digitata, etc., if I have scraped algae within the last few days. Fragging these is usually an accidental contact between the coral and some cleaning tool (or I just reach in with a pair of forceps and break off a chunk...)

They are weeds once established.

Thanks for the info! I would share once it establishes but I'm in st. Louis. If someones close by, then by all means swoop through and pick some up. I just wanted to know how to frag it because it's too big to put where I want it so I wanted to put a small piece there to eventually spread the way I hope it will

Also does anyone know if there's a way to glue under water because I can't lift the rock out of water where it's positioned without my other corals being disturbed

You are going to need a 2-part epoxy. Go to Lowes/HD and you will find an epoxy that comes in stick form. It is usually Green outside with a gray center or vise-versa.. I think it is made by Oatley. It will allow you to bond the coral tot eh rock underwater.
