Follow Up: Reverse Sunset Montipora


He guys.. I was just posting this to follow up on my montipora whatever it may be to show you guys how its growing so maybe we can determine if it is indeed a reverse sunset montipora. The first pic is the one you all saw when i first bought it. The next pic is of it about a month ago the first week i had my new Phoenix bulbs in. It looked CRAZY neon when the lights were first on. They are not as blue anymore after about 300 hrs of burn.

Looks great!...what is the green monti next to it.?? Are you a member of CMAS or WAMAS in MD.?

Lookin good.
My reverse has much darker red polyps and they are much closer to each other

now that it has grown a bit, I change my opinion. It's probably Montipora Verrucosa or Tuberculosa.

My guess would also be a Montipora Verrucosa. I just picked one up in the Reef Empire EBay auction this week as well.

Here is the picture that was posted on EBay of it:



And here is a picture I took of it from a distance in my tank today:



As you can see, the growth pattern is much different than that of my Sunset Montipora:



I hope that helps you a little with the ID.
