Do monti caps grow branches????
I've had this monti cap since Jan. 07 During it's growth I've noticed 2 branches growing from the plates. Is this normal? I don't see any of these on any one elses pics.

Dec. In this pic you can see one branch real good. The other is just left of the right one.

Mine have done that, usually it sends that thing up, then decides to plate out from higher up. I've also had one of these grow up like a branch, then plate out at a weird angle.

If it plates from that branch wouldn't it be too fragile and break?

I've got one doing that right now. Nothing too surprising, but fun to watch. Good luck with it, and keep us updated!

It may be more fragile and more likely to snap, but if left undisturbed it should be fine.

They will build other layers that collide with and support the other layers.

Is there anything sticking out of the top? Sometimes my corals grow around tiny tube worms...
