Clown Golby Issue

I bought a yellow and green clown golby on advice from a trusted friend, the reason I didn't buy two of one kind is to avoid spawning inside my SPS. The problem is that the only thing the Yellow Clown Golby seems to eat is SPS pylops, and I mean it goes after them like a bird goes after a worm, especially Milli's and Prostatas. It grabs the pylop, then shakes and tries to pull it out. Weither or not it accually is getting and eating pylops I am not sure.

The effect of all this going on, is a bunch of corals that haven't had PE for the last 2 days (time I have had the fish). Is this ok for the coral? In the "Marine Fishes" book it says that some may nip pylops but they don't cause any irreperable damage, would you alow it to go on? Is there any way I can get this fish to stop doing this?

Thanks,
Whiskey

Nope.

I have a Yellow Clown Goby in my 180. Loved to eat Acro and Seriatopora polyps.

I've left him with a Psammocora to sit in and moved everything else out. At least he can't do any damage to that coral.

Now I just have to figure out how to get him out. I drained this tank 2 weeks ago to get a 6 line out who turned evil, I don't think the coral could take a second draining/live rock removal.

Hmm, I guess I get to play in the drink tonight

Suggestions appreaciated,
Whiskey

So my removal of this fish went bad from the start, the first thing I did was knock 1 frag right off it's base with my net. I did this a few more times, then got the net in it's place I used a very small net to chase the fish into the first one after about 1 hour of trying. Perfect!!, I thought,.. I went to pull the net out and it got cought on a peice of LR, the rock flew up, spun upside down, hit 2 other peices of LR shattering corals into powder and smashing into the bottom pain of glass.

That is what brought this on,

At that point I was seriousally TICKED!!! Still am!!! I pulled all the LR and corals, and placed it on the carpet, netted the POS fish, and put the LR and corals back in. BUT I could not get it like I had it, and my tank currently looks like CRAP, although flow seems to work better now.

Now I just hope the Green Clown Golby doesn't start byting. I am trying really hard to increace the bioload in my SPS tank, so far all I have done in increace the bioload in my softie tank!!!!!

Sooooooo ticked,
Whiskey

Green Clown Gobies have a reputation of being much better behaved than Yellow Clown Gobies.

I've had bad experiences with all clown gobies - yellow, green, and I thought there was a brown one I tried, too. All of them perched in a few select Acros and kept the polyps from expanding. Once they stopped expanding at night, I gave the gobies away.

They're actually the only fish I've ever had problems keeping with corals.

He is pearching in my coral, but I have seen NO biting yet, and I have been watching very closely.

The down side is the coral he is sitting in isn't opening pylops, but it was also one of the corals that got it's pylops eaten by the Yellow Clown Golby. None of the corals that has pylops ripped out have opened any pylops yet (not even at night), I can't bear to take the tank apart again, so for now I will wait.

Thanks,
Whiskey

Oh no, now I have you fish "gun shy" as well! I have a lot of great fish suggestions in my other thread, but the problem is every time I see SW fish in the LFS now,.. I get the "shakes" .

I always HATED buying SW fish,
