when bill originally built that skimmer he installed a 6 in riser tube. we did some expermenting to see what size riser was needed to make the skimmer run better. when i built energys skimmer i deciede to install a really big riser tube just to make sure there was no problems. i was originally going to put a 8 in riser on there and decided to go 10 in. i was glad i did. the skimmer work alot better with the 10 in than an 8 in. so after bill saw energys skimmer with the 10 in riser he had to have one. so the last time i was down there i helped him convert it over to the new cone, twistlock, and cup assembley. that is why you see the entire top half of the skimmer is clean and new looking. now the skimmers really puts out a boat load of skimmate. it produced alot before but now bill says its 5o to 100 times better skimming.

that's good to know. I think my riser is too big at nearly 24" including the part in the cup. But on the flipside, I get nice skimmate.

ok this baby is awesome, i can build something like this, yeah right lol. i would need to take out 1st, 2nd and 3rd mortgage to afford this, hehe. me, wife and 4 kids would need to eat rice with soy sauce packs (the to go ones that they give out for free) for the rest of out lives to afford this.
