The largest tank

During my last visit to the Georgia Aquarium, I happened to capture some images of the big tank.
This tanks is over 6 million gallons. The primary viewing window is 24 feet high and 65 feet long. The plexi is 24 inches thick.

By all accounts that aquarium is amazing...and your great pictures just bolster that sentiment.

I really do need to get down there.

The reef tank is going to be awesome after it has had some time to fill out.

Thanks for the complements. The Georgia Aquarium is truely amazing. It is crowded but manageable. You must make reservations to purchase a ticket. I recommend buying a ticket/reservation online. This keeps you from having to stand in line to buy tickets and you can just walk thru the front door.

The reef tank is looking pretty good. I don't think it has had much light this winter. They have two sets of MH (1 on each side). I believe the whole tank is open to the sky so it should get full natural sunlight when available. It should take off over the summer. We will see.

Thanks Vince. I'm trying to find the time to get over to the G.Aquarium early one weekday (before the crowd shows up) with my tripod and take some better shots. This time was a learning experience. I found that you can't take shots thru the thick plexi at an angle. You have to shoot straight through. Otherwise you will get distortions and the images look really blurry. The reef tank is especially difficult because it has very little straight plexi. It is more like a quarter round.
I had taken about 180 shots and only got about 20 good ones.
