alot of this will depend on how custom you want the tank. if your just looking for a box of water, than you can get a cheep tank anywhere. but if your looking for a show tank the price will go up depending on how custom the tank is. also thickness of the acrylic is a big part of that. cheap tanks have a tendancy to bow after time because they use thinner acrylic. this also makes the tanks seams weaker and can burst over time. so to build a proper tank with the proper thickness acryilc will cost some money. i would say you need at least 3/4" thick acrylic for the sides and 1/2" for the top and bottom. 3/4" will run you $350 a sheet. and 1/2" will run you $240 a sheet. and then there is the cost of building it. 1 sheet of each would build a 220 gallon tank 72L x 30W x 24H. and 1 and a half sheets of 3/4 and 1 sheet of 1/2" would build you a 96L x 30W x 24H tank that would be almost 300g. and if you wanted external coast to coast overflows you would need another 1/2 a sheet of 1/2" acrylic. so take this into consideration when you purchase your aquarium. some times its better to not go the cheap route when purchasing the tank. othere things like lights, skimmers, sumps, and such can be upgraded over time and you wont need to completly tear down your system. but the tank is the only thing that you have to completly tear down to replace. a 200-300 g system is nice bit also very time consuming to tear down if you have a tank seam blow out.
