Question

new 350g tank

Hi all.. i hope i correctly translate.. so it should be a 350 gallons tank .. or a 1300-1400 liters.. as you wish..

in this days my wife told me i can build it if i can pay for the glasses.. that here (italy) will cost me approx 3k € .. so nearly 5.000 dollars

well.. the main trouble is.. i want to use a DSB.. and i think in USA you are the best for DSB system.. in europe we mostly use the Berlin system.. and i'm going to close a Berlin tank (150 gallons) after 4 years..

i'm moving in the new house.. and will start the new tank with the DSB as i like the sand..

the question is.. what skimmer ?.. i was thinking about a Bubble master 300.. then i saw the ETSS and the BAR (austin ocean now..) and i start to think about them..

what will be your ideas about it ?

tnx

Hi! Wlcome to TRT! I would sugest the Reeflo Orca 250 for a tank that size. They do an outstanding job and are well made with a terrific pump. The people I have seen with them absolutely love them!
Look forward to the build pictures!

Welcome! I am not too good with tanks and equipment that large, but people here seem to really like the Octopus Products...You could save yourself a considerable amount of money and get a very good skimmer (rated for 650 gallons)...just a thought. I am guessing the BK-300 is around $2k?? This one is $600

i just ask you a bit more help.. as i'm italian i dont know many of the skimmer you report here.. can you put a link to them so i can see them ? as in italy the only 1 i get is the BK-300 (1600 euro.. so hm.. at the current excange rate it's around 2200-2300$)

the 2 i saw were all 2 down draft skimmers..

btw.. my tank will be probably "over" populated my my wife fish request.. i will put more SPS corals then other "stuff"

Th Orca is probably the one with the most accurat rating. The ohers tend to be over rated and you would want one that is rated at much more than your water volume.

hm.. so no one put the finger on the ETSS or the BAR Down Draft.. 2 years ago i saw plenty of users buy that kind of skimmer and tell it was the ultimate skimmer...

orca seems well made in the picture.. but also the octopus.. for 1/2 the price isnt bad

btw.. i was thinking about an ETSS 1400 XR or a Foaminator 5200 (http://www.austinoceans.com/products...persizeSkimmer) with 1 pump allways on and the second beckett only on 1 hour after feeding to boost skimmer and have cristal clear water
