Welcome to TRT!!! we'll be glad to help. not sure about fish tank sales from our sponsers but take a look. we can also find a recommendation if you don't find one. I will say take everything slow. keep in mind that the taller tanks can be harder to clean. you may want to look for something longer instead.

Welcome to TRT! How long can you go?I like the longer tanks better also(gives the fish the speed and exercise they need!).

Welcome to TRT!!!

how long are your arms.

i would not get a tank that is deeper than your arm is long. taking into account how you can access the tank. if it is a true built in than you may have a hard time reaching something that is in the middle of the tank on the bottom on the front glass.

do you have an idea on what you would like to keep in the tank? this will help us in pointing you in the right direction for the support equipment for the tank.

G~

Welcome to TRT!!!

I agree on the deep tank, I have a 30 inch deep tank on a taller stand and I have to get the steps out. and I really have a hard time cleaning the bottom front view area,

ahh, the lighting question.

this really depends on what you want to keep in the tank. you really need to ask yourself what is the ultimate goal of this tank. if you are not honest here you may be end up buying another hood later on in order to keep the critters you most want.

if fish will be the ultimate goal than just about any flourscent hood will work. you only need to be able to see the fish.

if corals/clams/anemones are in the future than a Metal halide lighting system would be needed. one with 3 250w MH bulbs would be your best bet. most of these come with some flourescent supplimentation for bringing out the flourescence of most corals.

have you thought about flow yet? in larger tanks like that you will want to add more flow. in my 125 (same dimensions as yours only 22" tall) i have 7500gph of flow in there. less than 1000 of it comes from the sump! the rest comes from closed loop pumps drilled into the tank. there are other ways to add large amounts of flow. prolly the most popular is the Tunze propellor pumps. these are significantly easier than drilling the tank, some just find them a bit big to stick in their tanks.
