The next task that I accomplished was to get all my lighting in.

I made an aluminum rack which holds all lighting. Lighting was one of the more complicated tasks. Being under the stairs I had minimal clearance and could not move the rack vertical to gain access to the tank.
I ended up hinging the end closest to the stairs and suspending the opposite end from a stainless steel pulley system to raise and lower the rack. When down the light rack sits 6 inches from the water surface. Alittle closed than I had in mine, when up I have enough room to do anything I want. Even get into the tank.
The rack holds the following.
- (2) Matal Halides 400 Watts
- (3) 4 Foot 10 K VHO
- (2) 4 Foot Atinic Blue
- (10) Coralview Moonlights

In that last picture I was cleaning up after installing the returns on the closed loop. I have three returns comming through the back wall of the tank all 3/4" and they drop down into the sand bed. These three returns then run the perimeter of the tank to 12 outlets.

very sweet set up! I am enjoying reading, so thanks for posting.

I got to ask... are you a Ann McCafery fan? or does the handle come from someplace else?

Robert you guessed it, it's for raising the light rack. If you look at the picture of the rack you can see the stainless steel 3/32" cable. It goes through a pulley system to the fly reel.

The wife did not like it, but it works great.

Also in the top right corner of that same picture you can see an old hemp rope going through an antique snatch block. That's something else she did not approve of. I'll go into details when I submit the next photo.

I saw that in some of the first pictures you posted and meant to ask what that was all about, but got carried away with looking at all of the photos and forgot to.

I disagree, I liked the photos! Just need some more of the tank itself!!!

Great job!
