FWIW I had a blue tang and yellow and naso in my 110 for about 2 years and they all did fine together...never fought! The Naso got fairly big so I eventually took him back to the LFS

I would also say three yellows would do fine in your tank and a blue. Key is odd lots with these guys.....and get small ones and add all tangs together!

sailfins and yellow tangs can do fine together, I have that exact pairing in my 125 and they swim together. With tangs its all about when you put them together and the individuals agressiveness.

I have a 240 gal with a Yellow & Purple & Stipped Tang (the purple is the aggressor) and they all get along with my Blue Spotted Nasa, Coral Beauty, my two Fox Faced Rabbits, lawnmower & pink spotted watchman & many other little fish. There is peace amongst everyone!

Coach,

Everyone is right here. A yellow and a sailfin together is kind of asking for trouble. As a matter of fact, you may be better off putting 3 yellows together and not putting a sailfin in at all. Of course that would mean; no other tangs at all. I myself have a hippo, scopas (very much like a yellow) and a naso (ALL JUVENILES) all in the same tank. They all do fine together; of course they are all the same or similar size also. I don't know...I think yellow tangs are too much of a clich`e.

IMO, I really don't recommend a trigger (any trigger) for that matter in any reef system (especially with inverts). You may be fine with a juvenile for a little while but I've actually heard mixed opinions of adult triggers (doesn't matter which species either; blue ones are supposed to be the most docile and most reef safe); not to mention they can be difficult to catch once they get comfortable.

I have a 55g with a yellow tang and a sailfin added after about 8 months due to a seam splitting on another tank. I added him when the lights were off in a net and released him the next night with the lights off. They are all buddy buddy now. Soon I will be upgrading to a 90 and adding a purple as well.

I have had a 125g for 8 yrs with a few tangs and ect. Yellow tangs for most part were the ones that I had that wanted to fight other tangs, but I also had a couple yellow tangs that did not fight just matter of getting a nice one and also helps what order you put them in but its not necessarly works everytime. I had in the 125g a yellow tang, naso tang, scopus tang, sailfin tang, huma huma trigger, niger trigger, lion fish voilitan, coral blue angel, eel, hawk fish, sally light foot, neon goby, maybe other I can't remember right off. It was a fish only tank and system I ran I had no trouble keeping more fish. I like yellow tangs but they are a pain in the but and for me the most common one to have ick. My wife is wanting another fish tank so we are thinking on a 135g 6ft like the 125g 6ft I had if I can find one. I got a 120g 4ft coming next week but its very tall and reef ready and planned on reef but could make it a fish only tank.
