I have had a few different ones over the years and I have had the best luck with the Dragon goby, aka brown barred goby. They are true workhorses when it comes to sand sifting. Altough the sleper and diamond gobies do a fair job, both are fairly shy and timid and I have never had a sleeper that did not jump. The dragon is fearless and I have never had a jumper, even with an open top. Just my two cents.

I also have had good luck with the Dragon Goby. My dragon Goby was always doing his job.

I 2nd the dragon goby, thats what I have in my tank and he is contantly sifting through the sand, there are no dead spots at all. I had a 2 spot before and I really liked him but he did make it. I have heard that the 2 spots have a lower survival rate.

dragons can become destructive when they get big, but they are very active. my diamond did a great job when i had sand... took him a while to become more outgoing, but then he was a champ. either one will work great.

Diamond goby can sift to the point it clouds your water and shifts piles of sand around, but is a nice fish if not a little "jumpy". I like the smaller sifters like the twin spot signal or "4 wheel drive" goby. Sift a little, fun to watch, small, etc. Checkmout. R2

I like the smaller gobies also. My lawnmower blennie actually sifts a bit of sand as he eats off the bottom
