whaddya guys think of these lights???

Well I think I found a lighting fixture that will fit my needs for lighting my 46 bowfront (fu%&^%%^$) middle brace!!!! It seems to be the best bang for my buck. I will be going for the 175s. I wouldnt mind going for the dual 250s, but I think the electric bill would probably through the girlfreind over the edge. For mh bulbs, I was thinking about just going for a 10k setup; due to the vho actinic suplement....I like the night time flouesce. Anyone have any expierience with these setups???? This fixture is going to be suspended from my cielieng for the time being, until I can muster up enough time and brain cells to construct a canopy for it.... http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewit...zzltmhd32mhvho
yay/nay?....past experiences?????....better prices elsewhere???
Any input is greatly appreciated, as I am a starving college student and this is a decent chunk of change for me.
Gracias,
Ron

Hmm link doesn't work. I would really look into getting the 250. Using an eballast wouldn't increase the power bill much. RC has a calculator for that, using a 250w and an ARO eballast it calculates my bill will go up by $9 a month. Granted this is only the light, but still thats a negligable amount to me. The 175w bulbs are the same price as the 250w and some places are more expensive. You can get a whole dual setup 250w at aquariumlight.com for around $200.

But if you do end up with the 175w I will still be a nice addition for that tank. Not sure if you can keep clams or all SPS, but can definately create a great reef with it. Have any pics of the tank yet??

Those bulbs are throw-aways. 5500K MH would be great for growing marajuana but not so good for your reef. VHO is not URI so question quality. For the price, I think you could do better.R2

They offer upgrades from 5500K to 10K ushio is $24 per bulb, 75watt? to 95 watt URI vho is $20 per bulb. With these upgrades (total of $88), now yer talkin about $650+ for the real deal. R2

I would definetly go with 250w bulbs as well... It will give you more room to Upgrade to a larger tank without having to SEll off your old light setup... IMO 175w bulbs are only good for the 10-20g nano tanks... check "CoolTouchLighting" on ebay... Same as http://www.aquariumlight.com/ Just a few $$$ cheaper on Ebay for some reason... Was very satisfied with my purchase with them...

I really like the price attached to these!!!!!!
any ideas as to if these would be mod-able to throw in some pc or vho actinics??
Illusion: You personally have these lights? Do they come with everthying you need, with the exception of the acrylic glass cover and bulbs. I geuss namingly ballast and cords? also, do you recomend 1 or 2 fans, and will this fire any standard metal halide bulb?
Excuse my ignorance, my experience lies in pc lit nanos.
thanx,
Ron
