Tank Rebuild (setting up new 150 gallon)

Well I took the plunge my tank is completely torn down ready for the rebuild. As many of you know I am switching to a BB tank from a DSB. I am going to be updating this thread as progress allows. Here are the last pics of the tank together. Now remember I have been letting it go a little lately knowing that it was getting torn down.

DSB anyone.

If anyone wants the sand from my system I am trying to find it a home. I have a mostly full rubbermaid tub of the stuff. I am guessing it's about 20 gallons of sand total. I know there are alot of snails still in there. I can bring it to the meeting tomorrow. Make me an offer on it.

is the new tank going in the same place? do you have plans to paint the back of the tank to try to shield it from some of the natural light, or were you placing it there to take advantage of the light?

the project commences!

hey r2, when is that big coral sale that you said was going to happen slated to start, i hear you just got in some new pieces that i should come check out!

I dont think you would have to paint the back of it, if you wanted to block sunlight. Just go get a few feet of adhesive vinyl, it comes in any color, even metalic or mirrored, and its only like $1 a foot.

window tinting material at 20% works too if you want it snazzy, preferably the magnetic cling type and not the adhesive type, if you use the adhesive style, you may as well paint as it won't be coming off really cleanly.

I am thinking that I have become a tank moving pimp. Although this was the easiest one yet since both of the boys were former students of mine. I am wondering if there is such a thing as a coral kennel. You know, instead of dogs and cats I board corals, fish and softies!!!!!! Hey Tyler, good luck on the tank drilling.

I was planning on using the 95% window film from tap plastics..

Well here is what my tank is going to have. Most of the items are already here sitting in boxes in the living room. And they are taking up alot of space.

Lighting

(3) 400 watt XM 10k's
(4) 6 foot VHO Super Atinitic
(6 - 12) Moon lights I have (50) of them, going to be selling some when I am thru with my setup

Water flow.

(1) Sequence Reeflo Hammerhead Closed loop (man they are a heavy pump)
(1) Sequence Reeflo Dart Return pump

Skimmer

(1) DIY Beckett Skimmer
(1) PCX-55 Skimmer pump

Chiller if needed. We keep the house really cool in the summer and I can keep the temp stable durning the winter

(1) CL-500 1/2 HP.
(1) PCX-40 Chiller feed pump

CA Reactor

(1) DIY CA Reactor.

RO/DI

6 Stage RO/DI

I am sure I forgot something but that is the bulk of the hardware.

I have been cooking my LR half of it for the last 7 weeks the other half started last night.
