Tank raised sea horse's


A friend of mine who is a fellow reefer has some tank raised sea horses he wants to get rid of. they are large enogh to sex and eat frozen mysis shrimp. PM me if you are interested.
The parents are ocean r*ders from the big island.

seahorses have to be in a tank by them self, as far as i know they are reef safe though.

Yes this is true.. They are reef safe however they require minimal flow as they cannot swim all that well.. They need to be kept in a species only tank with alot of Macro algae that they can grab on to.. They are not great eaters so anything that is going to compete with them for food is out of the questions..

Randy - I have a 40 tank established and ready for seahorses. Live sand bed, liverock, halimeda, caulerpa, & a Berlin skimmer should keep them all happy. I have frozen mysis and am raising my own brine shrimp on phytoplankton.

ive read that pipe fish can be kept with seahorses, cant remember where i read that though. if you wanted some i think soutas sells them.

You are correct on this.. they can be kept together as well.. Been thinking about a few for my 29g tank but havent decided as of yet..

The guy that breeds the sea horses has a mated pair of flame tail pipe fish and two othe pipes all in a 72 gal bow front. Its a very nice tank
