Should I be concerned about my Naso?
I have a Naso that has been in my tank for about three months and seems to be doing fine, however, I have noticed that his stomach looks a little pinched. I feed him daily a mix of Mysis Shrimp and Spectrum pellets along with a resonable size piece of Seaweed Select. I also have a couple of small tangs but no other competition for food. The Naso is a very agressive eater and seems to get his fair share but should I be concerned?
Thanks,
Sc00by

If his bellly looks pinched then he's not getting enough food or enough nutrition. Try bumping his food up, especially the greens, and if he doesn't start to put on weight you might be dealing with a parasite.
You could try treating his food with garlic or even feeding him small pieces of raw garlic. Garlic is good for purging parasites of certain types.

I would recommend that you leave Nori in the tank 24/7/365 That way the tang will always have something to eat. It helps out a great deal with pinched bellies..

Adding to that, you could put some garlic on the Nori - maybe squeeze some from a gel cap .

If you go to Fred Meyers or any store in the Asian food section they should have Nori.. Its a Sushi Wrap.. Its pretty much the same stuff that the LFS sells for 8-12.00... I know Fred Meyers should carry it as that is where I got mine..

Nori
Is dried sheets of seaweed, you can get at a LFS for lost os $$$$ or go to one of those Asian mkgts for less. I found a place that sells 100 sht for under $10

If you go to an Asian market, you can find a wide variety of dried seaweeds, you want unroasted stuff, sun dried preferably. I found a bunch of different kinds of sun dried stuff at Alfalfa's (a "green" grocery store - organic foods, etc). pretty cheap too, a lot less than what you pay at an LFS.

ya...
and make sure you don't get the Nori with Ranch flavoring! lol....get unflavored...no additives, etc. Careful, as many prepared foods are high in phosphates. You can test it out by soaking in RO water, and then testing water for phosphates.
