Shopping trip to PDX Sunday

The wife and I decided to go to Portland last Sunday and do some shopping for corals (can't seem to get any here in Eugene worth a darn).

Anyway, we had three stops scheduled; Woody's place, Deep Sea Gallery, and Upscales.

Woddy's was interesting...flys in the face of the old adage "location, location, location". My wife thought I had lost my mind as we stopped here first. She was pleasantly suprised as we walked into the unassuming little garage and seen the impressive array of fish. We even saw a full-grown Naso Tang like the baby we have in our tank. Wow, that was one purrrdy fish.

Not seeing anything special, we decided to go on to the next stop...Deep Sea Gallery in Vancouver

We were greated by a very nice lady who apologized for being very low on fish from a weekend of crazy sales. Since we were on a mission to find some corals, we were excited to see that she had a very nice selection and at OK prices. We dropped a couple of hundred there, and she even threw in nice sized Acro frag and a huge bag of Calerpa for our 'fuge....Nice!!!

We then headed back south to Upscales in Tualitin and thought it would be a quick stop "since we're in the area" as we had blown must of our budget at the Gallery...

We walked in and was blown away!!! What an awsome display tank! I have never seen anything like it. It was great to have the wife see it also as she has been questioning my desire to build a reef rather than a FO because "corals don't do anything..so why would you want them"... She fell in love with their display tank, and begged me to make our tank look like that! Sweet!

I found myself wishing I had stopped here first because their prices were VERY good, they had an awsome selection of corals, and I blew most of my budget already...But the wife, still in a trance from the display tank, proceeded to go wild in there and ended up picking up 13 more corals (to the 7 we purchased earlier)...

All in all I say we had a blast, and look forward to our next trip up north. For those of you locals, can you give me a hint of other stores comparable to Upscales in the area?

Dave

Dave,

Glad you had a great time up here. That crazy Lise sure is great. Hopefully you had a chance to meet Dave. Travis at Upscales does have a magnificent tank. There's just 2 more stores in PDX that I recommend. There's others, but with the ones I have listed, there's no reason to go else where.

Hope to meet you at a meeting.

Sps.com, Patrick, you can't go in and see but on the website you can checkout his inventory. He's in Beaverton.

I just tried that address and ended up at a website for blue mountain studios. Where did I go wrong? tried different cases and still ended up in the same place.
