Raising PH

My PH level is continually low. Does anyone know if it's ok to use pool/hot tub PH adjusters in an aquarium. Is there any difference between PH chems used in pools and tanks?

I would imagine the pool chems are much lower grade than what we typically use in our tanks...

Do you dose kalk at all?

I wouldn't take the chance of it. The best way to maintain pH is to do like inkto suggested and drip kalk water for your top off water...

pH refers to the balance of hydrogen ions in solution(power of hydrogen). Often times, a tanks ankalinity, hardness, or KH(for carbonate hardness)(which are all the same thing) is responsible more for a low pH. Normal sea water ranges from 7-9 degrees of KH, I like to keep my alkalinity at 10, a little high to be on the safe side. You can safely use baking soda to buffer your KH but use it carefully and test so as not to over do it. R2
