Poly Filter and Skimmer

Today I went into Woody's and got a 100 micron filter to try and combat this hair algae a bit harder... Since adding it to the outlet on my overflow the Skimmer has been going extremely nuts.. I am talking filling the collection cup in about 10m worht of time... About 2m after putting it in the sump it gave me about 2" of foam on the top of the water in the sump... I pulled it out and rinsed it real good and still making the skimmer go nuts... Its very wierd.. I didnt rinse it at first as it was new and sealed and figured that it didnt need rinsing..

TIA<

Well I think It finally stopped going nuts.. I had to let it consistantly foam like made for about the last ohh umm about 10hrs.. Anyone ever have this issue? I mean I dont think I did anything wrong and If something is new like a 100micron filter I wouldnt think that It needed to be washed out.. BTW I looked at it about an hour ago and man those things get real dirty real quick.. It did probably have something to do with me scrubbing off all the hair algae and blasting the crap out of all my LR with a powerhear LOL..

Still this AM and the skimmer is still going nuts... I dont know why... The only thing that was changed was I added the Poly Filter... Should I pluck the poly filter or give the skimmer a while longer.. Its been almost 24hrs that the skimmer is going completely nuts..

Dude, thats pretty insane. I can't even imagine what the hell is going on. If you remove the poly filter, does the skimmer immediately STOP producing foam? Thats what I would do. If it stops, then panic... otherwise, it may be something else that is coincidental?

Just thinking out loud man.

Ok so I talked with Woody and he had no clue either.. When I pulled the filter out yesterday afternoon It didnt stop foaming til sometime this AM... Woody mentioned to Rinse it real good so I emptied my dishwasher and threw it in there with no soap.. After the skimmer stopped foaming this AM I threw the filter back and and it seems to be working normally now.. Whewwww Finally LOL.. Anyways I know my skimmer works good LOL.. All fixed Thanks again guys..
