OT: anyone ever hear of this law?


for those of you who dont really know me, i crushed my leg at work 2 yrs ago with a 90# car axel. havent been able to walk very well since and am now disabled. well the state of oregon FINALY got around to saying im 22% disabled and that ill be getting a a settlement for $12,000. after 30 days they finaly sent me the money. a whole $98!!! and a paper that said i will get $475 a month for the next 2 yrs. they told me its state law that they cant pay me the full amount. im so pissed at the state right now. has anyone ever heard of this #$%^#@@& law?

That sounds like crap. Sounds like something Saif would do. 10 years ago, I blew my knee out and after 4 years of surgery I finally got a cash settlement, something like 5-6 thousand. If I were you I would contact an attorney or workmans comp aumsbudman (sp). good luck.

LMAO it was saif corp that is doing it. they sent me some paper to sign to get a lump sum check but they said its not 100% sure thing and they have 14 days to decide to say yes or no. sounds like just another way to mess with me and see if i go postal.

I would definatley retain a labor and or disability attorney. Without going into to much detail there is a lot of recourse you have regarding a matter like this. As with most organizations, they will try to settle for the least amount possible. I had a friend who is an RN, injured to the point where standing for long periods was no longer an option. The initiall offer received was much the same as yours. After that it was attorney time. When it was all said and done the settlement was 250,000 plus monthly disabilty.

You may have to fight it like hell and the attorney may take a chink, but compared to what your getting now its certainly worth the effort.
