That's encouraging, Illusion. I've got a 25-ish tank (that's a 10" tall 55), and I was thinking of doing an all T5 setup after some encouragement from Krux. I was wondering if you had experimented with different numbers of white/actinic bulbs amongst the four slots?

I would evenly match them.. 1 to 1 Actinic and 10k... I havent used anything else besides Actinics... However when I ran just 6x55w pc lights I would run 2 actinics and 4 10k bulbs.. Looked good but needed more Actinic IMO..

Kinda makes ya wonder, hmmmm...

I wish the votes for the last two categories were discussed in reply. What is used as "other", and although natural sunlight is swell and all, everybody knows that a winning personality will only get you so far! Ryan

Ok, Ryan2 my two cents. I use to run the Iwaski 250w with std coil ballast, over the 100 with 4x URI super actinics., 560w's The color was umm, not bad. Corals grew and polyp extension was great. Monti's so bushy you could hide that "underwear" in them . OK maybe not so big but bushy. I am now running the same bulbs but with a change in ballasts - dual PFO HQI ballast. It's looks like about a 10K and still have the same URI's. According to the test that JB NY did on the 250w's on a PFO HQI ballast:

LAMP PAR WATT MaxWATT AMP MaxAMP
IWASAKI 950 355 384 3.02 4.79

par at 950
