5. fattoni suggested in a submission he had that things might look better with shaded text... here is an example... again this can be done to any image

I like #3 but with shaded text, I think that the wording stands out alot better.

I think #1 has the most interesting background. The text could use some sprucing up but the background is more out of the ordinary. JIMO.

I like 5 the best,,, its simply, yet clearly reef. not much says more about reef like to the non reefers like the urchin. Super puple makes for interest as well. yet its not as detailed as some of the others.

This is more of what I was going for but it wont work due to a few problems ryan explained to me. Its fairly close to what ryan did on the last picture of his. The fonts would need to be moved and edited a bit for it to work I believe.

#5 is my favorite ... so, if you're uncertain... vote for the urchin underdog!

#1 is beautiful in an interesting way, but not as colorful... and almost looks like a dahlia!

#3 is colorful, BUT it's no #5!

just for nikki, here is the original image it is one of my favorites... i agree that it does look more like a flower than an animal. i have a thread burried somewhere from the photoshoot that i took this in, i can dig it up if you want to see more stuff. graphically it is a really hard piece to work with because it is so light, and in the same image so dark, so the only way to make text easily legible over it is to desaturate it and then reduce the contrast substantially, which then takes away from its luster.

we only need one

keep in mind these will be credit card sized as well, so figure on that as you picture what the final will eventually look like... a little smaller than 1/4 of the size of these images.

You're right R1; it is colorful in its original form. I bet whichever picture that is ultimately chosen could be more beautiful if we can just figure out a way for the fonts to 'pop' a little more, therefore needing to dissolve the photo quality a little less. Here is just playing with it a few minutes.

the biggest problem is that white can not be used as text color due to bleeding in the process... it just doesn't show well.

the circle is 1/4" no larger, it is covered by a sticker, no need to make it more visible as it is intended to not be seen

the current sticker disclaimer is necessary, because only current card holding members will have access to the shop discounts... if the retailers are not aware that there is an indication of wether or not the holder is current, paying members will be cheated out of a benefit.

otherwise i like it, personally i can't stand word art so i don't use it much, but everything is open to debate

one way to judge by size is to scroll up to the pics, get out a credit card, hold it in front of you and move it forward and back until it is visually the same size as the image, and then bracketing the credit card with your fingers, remove it with your other hand. this will give you some idea of the scale and how well objects and text show up. hopefully that made sense to a couple people :P
