Talking

new dude--algae question

Hello all! I really enjoyed myself at the last meeting. Mike (biomechanic) brought me up from the Eugene area.

I heard there are some folks down in the Eugene area say hey. I got quite a bit of ricordea to trade, one rock with white polyps that has a starter torch coral, and some cool "sword like" curpula.

A few of you folks were really cool with the trades. I came unprepared but next time I will bring you nice people up some frags next time.

Question to the group

What is the most doscile fish or critter to eat bristle ball brush algae? (looks like beard stubble). I have it under control but I want to keep it that way. Keep in mind a 20 gal micro reef.

Thanks
Adam Gold

lawn mower blennies do pretty good on algae, but they are not a sure bet as a weed abatement device. they usually seem to want to eat exactly what you didnt put them in to control.

ive always had lawnmower blennies go rogue in my tank. in fact i just got rid of an evil bi colour blenny.

Thanks for the feedback folks. The emerald crabs do a fair job but dont eat all of it.

Eat what i bought you for !!!

Are there any invert psychologists available?

I have never used them on that particular type of algae but rainford's gobies are good on hair algae, are quite peaceful and stay small. There is also another goby called a banded or bullet goby that is a little bigger and not very pretty but is also along the same lines.

rainford gobies do require a very active pod population as well.
