Need help with possible purchase
OK here is what happened.... this nice old lady came to my place of business (she was refered to come see) and told me she has a fish tank to sell.
Turns out its much nicer than I expected. I went and took a look,
39 (she said,,, looked bigger) hex corner tank, acrylic. Black stand and canopy. Had a 250w DE halide in a pendant for lighting, dolphin pump, PH skimmer, and a sump.
Pretty dang basic but very nice.
It has 4-5 inches of sand, 80 pounds of LR, lots of shrooms etc I dont care much about, an RBTA, 9 fish ( ugly tang *just black, beautiful pair of marron clowns, pair of cardnals, lawn mower blenny, couple damels, and a beautiful flame angel.
Ive been REALLY thinking about a Cephalopod/octopus tank. This would be perfect minus the fish, and excessive lighting.
So Id like to find out what this setup is worth, the woman didnt have a clue what the value of any of it was, except what the sticker price was for the tank/stand/canopy.
What would be an honest offer for this type of setup? I dont want to rip off this woman, but I want a good deal too.
What would you folks offer for this tank?

That's a tough one Joel. But one thing to do is figure out what you could sell off that you don't/won't need and then add a little on to that for a final price.
Example: So if you could sell everything you don't need for $100 bucks add what you would be willing to pay for the items you will keep and add that together

I thought of that too Krux but I'm sure it wouldn't get along with my purple tang!

I think its just a brown/scopas tang,,, I promise its nothing special, but if buy the setup,,, its yours for $200. No questions asked,, sight unscene black tang. Yes its the shape of a yellow, yet ugly. its not JET black, rather just BLAHHHHHH.
If I DO end up buying the setup,,, it goes to the highest bidder,,,,, starting at $200 jk
Your not helping me come up with a valid price!!!

I'm with James- offer the $150- part out the rest and offer a free checking account, too.
I got dibs on the flame angel -
you're goona to need a top for that tank and I can see a acrylic top with holes in it - small holes - lots of small holes, to keep it in.

Joel,
If you get the tank and don't want the lawn mower blenny, couple damels we would love to take them off your hands... What about the Live Rock... We would take that too of course that is if you didn't want it...

A brown/scopas tang worth more than a PM skimmer, 250w DE halide tank stand and canopy? The fish is only worth $30 max....

OK, so Ive made an offer and it was accepted. Im now taking offers for the fish (except the flame angel) and the 250w DE PFO halide (unknown bulb, but its 1 month old).
Ill be moving the tank this weekend, so folks that want any of the fish you can pick them up, or I can bring them to the meeting on the 22nd (Ill be able to make it now,, I found out the wedding I have to go to is in salem, and its at 5:00!)
