I have a baby!!!!!!!!

I knew you would look.... ha! But I do have a baby brittlestar.. I saw it late last night.. tiny tiny , little legs no bigger than hairs, but can actually see the little bristles on the legs. Now, what I want to know is ... how did i get this little bugger?? I did have a black brittlestar for about 2 weeks, about 2 months ago,(did not acclimate correctly, slowly watched him lose all of his legs, it was awful!!!, then disintegrated when I went take him out of tank after dieing) and I have heard of legs regenerating. But- this is a whole new baby.

Anyway, am just excited to be a new Mom!! My first tank baby!!

Well, its probably just a sand sifting star. They rarely get larger than a quarter or so... I have tons of them hiding in my liverock and sand. They come out at night like crazy...

Some of mine are white-ish and others are black and white striped.

Yeah, this one looks to be whitish. But where did it come from?? I have had this tank set up since January and I have never seen any of these. I does appear to be a baby though, not full grown. Legs are the size of hairs, body not even the size if the head of a pin.

If you have traded sand, gotten more liverock, or anything like that, you could have gotten it like a hitchhiker.. You may have more where that came from as well. If you want some, I could give you some more.. heh.

Those are very common. i have a billion of them in my refugium. they are harmless, and actually help to keep sand and rock free from tiny detritus that settles.
