How long can I keep the pumps off?

One more question...

This morning I saw one of my huge rose anemones partially sucked into my intake. I turned off the pumps and he has pulled his tentacles out, but is still dangerously close to the intake. I've been waiting for a couple hours for him to move, but he hasn't.

How long can I keep all the pumps off and hope he moves away? Or when should I give up and just try to move him by peeling him off his rock?

Thanks for the help!

Take a powerhead and point it right at him it should help him make up his mind to move.

peeling him off the rock may damage the anemone if not done right, but let me tell you...ive been extra careless with a particular rose bubble tip clone of mine. its endured very sloppy removal from rocks, and has recovered very well.

the powerhead method may work, but it never did for me. removing the anemone always did the trick on my end. but be cautious...if all your flow and your strongest light are close to your powerheads...the anemone may go right back up in that direction.

Well, just got home and the dumb thing is still right by the intake. Guess I'll get him moved, one way or another, tomorrow morning. I hope its okay to have the tank pumps continue to be off overnight???

Try to peel him/her off, use your fingernail of some "dull" pointed object. I have a "probe" from the denitis that I use for coaxing roses out of a hole , shaped like a cone but rounded point - it's not easy go slow good luck
