Flushing Question?

I just did a wet run on my tank before i get setup and put ro water and alll that good stuff. Every minute or two or three my tank seems to make a "flushing" noise. When i look in the overflow the water level drops making the noise. Does anyone know what causes this? Later Ryan

yes, you need to build a durso or stockman style standpipe. do a search here or on rc

My durso is slightly undersized and would occasionally do the flush manuveur until I modified it by placing a piece of small (~1/4") rigid tubing in the drain from the vent down to about halfway to the sump... keeps a constant supply of air in the drain and prevents a full on siphon that drains the overflow and results in the flush... which is entirely unnecessary given the size of fish poop and the lack of toilet paper.
