Do any of you slightly intelligent and highly intelligent reefers have any suggestions on feeding a long tenticale anenomy? ive tried mysis shrimp thawed in tank water and squirting it into its mouth with a turkey baister but it doesnt seem to eat any of them

Thanx,
Ron

Thawed Krill and Silversides Both work great.. But IMO I dont feed anemones... Unless I am showing them Off LOL... If you have no clowns hosting in them might be a good Idea as well.. But maybe once or twice a week..

I would try and thaw some Krill or Silversides... Pretty much if an Anemone is going to die there is really nothing that can be done to save it... But LTAs are pretty hardy so it should be ok..

I would avoid squirting food into the mouth of the anemone - best to place food onto the tenticles and let the anemone bring to its mouth. No magic number on the frequency of feeding - when I kept anemones I fed about once a week - know some that feed every other day. Anemones will eat about anything --- I used silversides and occasionally some water packed tuna (when making sandwiches for the boys).

Hey Ron,

What some people do is train an eel to feed their anenome.

Disclaimer: This is intended as a joke and not to be construed, intentionally or otherwise, as any sort of reflection on the selling, buying or keeping of eels. Eels are a sensitive sort, and I'm sure are protected, under some Federal Law, against dispersions against their beings.

Any luck on replacements?

Mine wouldnt eat anything but silversides and now it will eat anything that falls in it's grasps. Try a peice of silverside and feed it to it by hand or with tongs and it should take it. Just put as close to the mouth as you can.

i feed mine predominantly squid. get a couple of whole squid, cut them into about 1/2" pieces and then freeze it. i go through 1 squid worth of food about every 2 months.

just make sure you thaw it first, those buggers dont like frozen food too much

if you need a lesson on cleaning squid i can help you with that too, used to have to clean 20 lbs a day for my old restaurant.
