Eric Borneman

Hey folks I have been in contact with Eric for the past month or so getting him to come out to Gods country and do a speaking arrangement. I have been doing it for the Seattle club but I would like to include the PNWMAS and do it like a joint venture. It looks like we will be getting Eric in sometime after the new year, so throw some ideas at me. Location? (no not Portland, lol) but maybe Tacoma or Olympia? and any thing else you can think about.

Well, since no Portland, how's about Eugene? Then we can inconvience everyone equally. ; )

Olympia I guess. I'm not to familiar with WA, the closer to OR the better for me.

Oh! that would be great. What kind of forum are you looking for?My preference would be Olympia. Is there some community college there that would allow us to use their facilities?

I dont know about the forum yet, kinda wanted to get the city down first and then work it from thier.

Thier is also the possibility that we could get him to do 2 seperate functions. One say in Seattle and the other say in portland.

So Alice get with all the good folks down in oregon and let me know which way you folks want to go.

On a side note we have a few other speakers arrange for up here (toonan, some fish disease expert and a Darrn due a review of reef lighting based on his experiments)maybe we could work something out thier to

Good job Mike!!!

I'll bring it up at the next meeting but judging from the turnouts I've seen for SW speakers here in town in the past for the GPAS annual shows, we'd probably do better combining it into one event. Just IMO though and I'll see how which way the wind blows with folks down this way.

Anthony Calfo

I was talking to Anthony about his upcoming trip to LA, and he'd be more than happy to speak to our groups, all he asks is a cheap motel and cheap airfare (which IHHO is all any speaker should be asking). Thought I'd mention it.

when you talk about all the other speakers, are they all coming at once, in like one big reefarama, or seperately?

Reefarama...I like that!

I've talked to a couple of different people who make the reefkeeping speaker circuit and was told they do appreciate good lodgings (nothing over the top), meals, airfare of course, and that an honorarium for speaking of anywhere from $100-300 is also in order.

These speakers don't get rich by doing this; most do it because they enjoy it. Even those that may be promoting a book are certainly not raking in the dough. Production and printing costs are high and the books don't have a huge market.
