Dosing with Kalk

I am thinking about dosing with kalk in my top off water in my 90g. I have a kangaroo dosing pump right now as my top off of RO/DI. I checked some parameters last night.

PH: 8.34
ALK: 9.3
CALCIUM: 300

The PH was measured with a ph meter so I am pretty sure it is correct. The others were with Salifert test kits. I have a color deficiency so I am not sure if I noticed the color change exactly.

The top off container will be 10 gallons and I would like to be able to store that much kalk water at a time. I want to be able to make up the water once a week. I am planning on 1 tbsp kalk per gallon and let the kalk settle on the bottom. The dosing pump is pumping at 200 ml/hr to keep up with evaporation.

Does this sound good? Anything I need to worry about? Thought I would post before I started doing this.

Make shure you don't suck the muck off the bottom.I put a egg crate with little legs on the bottom to keep my powerhead from sucking the bottom.

Loverotties, thanks that is a good idea using the egg crate. I will do that.

Liquidfunk, 150 pounds, man that is alot. How much do you think you use a month? I have a 1 can of pickling lime. We will see how this kalk mixing goes. If I need more I let you know.
