a think

(all this posting today, the ol' hamster must really spinning the wheel in my brain )
has there been any thought to PNMWAS getting a business liscense, or even a as non-profit business? we could bulk order stuff (LR, sand, additives we use: )for example, 2 part calcium/alk mixes, ), equipment (how about a case of 55w VHO 03 actinics?), heck even critters from wholesalers) and save money. there are plenty of suppliers out there that won't deal with individuals but will deal with businesses.
to clarify, I'm not looking to sidestep LFS's, but how many of us order online instead of paying store prices for some things: I've seen Prizm's for sale at Petsmart for $160, Jeff's Exotic carries them for $70, etc. The one LFS in Roseburg is selling the Visijet skimmer for $80, the same one the Petwarehouse sells for $30.
just a thought.

Hi all,

I have business license, but most of the wholesalers want you to have a store front and an entry in the phonebook.
Coordinating such perchases would be difficult, but not impossible. We could start our own little store (someones garage) and get donations to stock things like ph, salt, sand. Maybe Alice has some input on this. Maybe we could take donations for the fund, $10 a month from members would add up fast and we would reap the benifits. We could keep track of the donations and credit each members account for future purchases.
I do have an account at Platt Electronics, I bought my ballast from them and a metal case to put it in. So if anyone needs a ballast I can get them locally at reasonable prices. I would be more than happy in helping others with wiring them.

Jimbo,
In reference to liscencing. What does it entail? County AND state? Fees? I'm intyerested for myself because i'm builing a brand for my growout system and would like a business liscence.

go down to your local city hall and tell them you want a bussiness license, pic your name and type of bussiness and give them 20.00 bucks and your done. the down side to it is i think you'll have to file taxes at the end of the year on anything sold!

I didn't do more than a cursorary look at going non-profit when we were first getting tips to set up the club. Shoot, we haven't even got to dues yet

If there's interest of course it could be an option. If someone wants to look into the why's and where-fors and present it at a meeting that would be great. Right now I'm very tied up with work and just don't have the time to add it to my plate.
