Well I think I would take it out and not do anything else to the tank for a while.

Here's how I use carbon, and I have not done this very often and not in a few years now. For 450gals.

I have a valve in the tanks plumbing - between the overflow and the sump. The valve is reduced to a 1/4" nipple.
I have a 12" piece of 3" PVC, reduced to 1/4" nipples on both ends.
In the PVC I do a wad of filter fluff, about 1 cup of black diamond (pre-soaked), and another wad of filter fluff. Screw the end caps on the PVC, and use 1/4" hose to attach it to the valve. It drains into the sump.
I only use it for 24 hours or less, and only one time few and far between.

Spanky, what is your thoughts on chemi-pure. Does this release these same molecules in the water? phosphate and iron?

I've really don't use anything but a skimmer.

I went to Dick's website and read what he had to say about chemi-pure. He says things about ionic balances, etc.

So yes, it does.

You guys keep something in mind. The hobby business is nothing compared to the seafood industry. If you don't find it used in the seafood industry, it's hooey.

This is a very good thread and I am actually experiencing the coral lightening in my tank as well. I am trying to add fish with not much luck (they keep dieing). I am going to try to use some coral foods like Kent's Chromamax to see if that helps. I have cut back my lighting by and hour so far as well.

I think you'd better figure out why the fish are croaking first

Update
MH on for 4 hours, may still cut this back more or just leave them off for a few days. I've decided to downgrade to 250watts mh, pick stuff off of ebay for cheap. The tank seems a little washed out with the 400 watt bulb. Here's a pic of the test corals. The one on the right seems to be living and growing yet is a light green color. The left digi seems to be dying. I'm going to move it into the shade.
My fish load is as follows
Nemo
rabbit fish
sunrise goby
yellow tang (soon to be traded in since it is neurotic in such a small tank)
2 green chromas (was 5 the other day)

Feeding blender mush once or twice a day and some freeze dried plankton and some nutrifin max floating morsals (sparingly)

OK I have added 2 fish over the past 2 months. I have also upped the feeding allot. I am still seeing the SPS corals getting more pale and noticing reduced polyp extension. Even a new frag I purchased a month ago is now turning pale.

I think it may be time to go back to sand. It apparently is not the feeding now.

I would be interested in seeing what your Potassium levels are in your tank... Some of the reading I've done lately seems to point to that in very low-nutrient environments Potassium levels will reduce thus causing coral health decrease. Might be worth spending $30 on a Kalium test kit to find out.

Might help, might not. Havn't seen any BB'ers who have this issue try it though.
